  1. Visit GitHub Personal Access Tokens Page

    • Go to https://github.com/settings/tokens in your browser.
    • This can also be found in GitHub by navigating to: "Settings" → "Developer settings" → "Personal access tokens".
  2. Create a New Token

    • Click "Generate new token".
    • For most tasks, select the repo scope (“Full control of private repositories”).
      • If you only need to work with public repositories, select the public_repo scope.
  3. Select Repositories

    • Choose whether the token should apply to all repositories or selected repositories only.
  4. Complete and Generate

    • Optionally, fill in a description and set an expiration date for the token.
    • Click "Generate token" at the bottom of the page.
  5. Copy the Token

    • The generated token will be shown once. Copy and save it immediately.
  6. Add the Token in FastMCP

    • Fill in your Personal Access Token in the FastMCP connection interface by pasting it into the field labeled GITHUB_PERSONAL_ACCESS_TOKEN.
    • Use the "Install Now" button to save it.

You do not need to restart FastMCP. The token will be used for your GitHub connection.
