Obtain your TestRail API Key
- In the TestRail interface, click your user avatar or name (usually at the top right).
- Go to “My Settings.”
- Navigate to the “API Keys” section.
- Click “Add Key” or “Create new key.”
- Optionally, give your API key a description.
- Copy the generated API key. You will not be able to view it again after closing this dialog.
Find your TestRail login email
- This is the email address you use to log in to TestRail.
Get your TestRail instance URL
- This is the URL you use to access TestRail (e.g.,
https://example.testrail.io).

Add the required environment variables in FastMCP
- Click the “Install Now” button in your FastMCP connection interface for the TestRail server.
- Fill in the fields as follows:
TESTRAIL_URL: Paste your TestRail instance URL.TESTRAIL_USERNAME: Enter your TestRail login email.TESTRAIL_API_KEY: Paste the API key you generated in step 2.
Save your configuration
- Complete the setup and connect.
