Create a Google Cloud Project
- Go to the Google Cloud Console.
- Create a new project or select an existing project.
- Enable billing for your project if you haven't already.
Enable the Custom Search API
- Navigate to the API Library.
- Search for "Custom Search API".
- Click "Enable" to enable the API for your project.
Obtain Your Google API Key
Go to Credentials.
Click "Create Credentials" and select "API Key".
Copy the generated API key.
(Optional but recommended) Restrict the API key to the Custom Search API for better security.
Create a Custom Search Engine (CSE)
- Go to the Programmable Search Engine.
- Enter the sites you want to search (enter
www.google.comif you want general web search). - Click "Create".
- On the next page, click "Customize".
- In the settings, enable "Search the entire web".
- Copy your Search Engine ID (listed as
cx).
Add Values to FastMCP Connection Interface
- In the FastMCP interface, click the "Install Now" button for this integration.
- Fill in the fields as follows:
GOOGLE_API_KEY— paste the API key from Step 3.GOOGLE_SEARCH_ENGINE_ID— paste the Search Engine ID from Step 4.
- Confirm and save your settings.
