Mailtrap Email API
OfficialEnables sending transactional emails through the Mailtrap Email API.
Create a Mailtrap Account
- Go to https://mailtrap.io/signup and create a new Mailtrap account if you do not have one.
Verify Your Domain
- Visit https://mailtrap.io/sending/domains and follow the instructions to verify your sending domain.
Obtain Your API Token
- Log in to your Mailtrap account.
- Navigate to Mailtrap API settings.
- Click to create a new API token if you don’t already have one.
- Copy the API token value.
Get Your Account ID
- Visit Mailtrap account management.
- Locate and copy your Account ID.
(Optional) Get Your Test Inbox ID (only required for sandbox/testing email functionality)
- In Mailtrap, go to your inbox dashboard.
- Select the test inbox you want to use.
- Copy the Inbox ID from the URL or the inbox details page.
Determine the “From” Email Address
- Use any verified email address from your sending domain as the value for
DEFAULT_FROM_EMAIL.

Fill in the FastMCP Connection Interface
- Click the “Install Now” button for the Mailtrap MCP server in your FastMCP interface.
- In the connection setup form, fill in the following environment variables:
MAILTRAP_API_TOKEN: Paste your Mailtrap API token.DEFAULT_FROM_EMAIL: Enter your verified sender email address.MAILTRAP_ACCOUNT_ID: Paste your Mailtrap Account ID.MAILTRAP_TEST_INBOX_ID: (Optional, for sandbox email functionality) Paste your Test Inbox ID.
Save and Connect
- Save the configuration and confirm the new connection in the FastMCP interface. If the server requires a restart, follow any prompts to do so.
Note: The MAILTRAP_TEST_INBOX_ID is only required if you want to use sandbox email features; for regular sending and template management, this field can be left blank.
