Integrates with Rootly's incident management API to enable real-time production incident resolution directly within code editors, focusing on core endpoints with optimized pagination to prevent context overflow.
  1. Log in to your Rootly account

  2. Navigate to the API section

    • Visit the API reference page at Rootly API Reference.
    • Scroll to the “How to generate an API key?” section, or follow the site's instructions for API token management.
  3. Generate an API Token

    • Locate the option to create or manage API tokens (sometimes under user profile or workspace/settings).
    • Create a new API token. Give it a descriptive name so you remember what it is for.
    • Set the token permissions as necessary for your use case.
  4. Copy your API Token

    • After creating the token, it will be shown to you. Copy it immediately, as it often cannot be viewed again.
    • Your token will look like a long string (for example, “rootly_xxxxxxxx”).
  5. Fill in the API Token in the FastMCP connection interface

    • In your FastMCP interface, click the "Install Now" button to add the Rootly MCP Server.
    • When prompted for environment variables, enter the token in the ROOTLY_API_TOKEN field.

    Example:

    ROOTLY_API_TOKEN=your_copied_token_here

  6. Save and finish

    • Complete the setup in FastMCP as prompted. Your Rootly MCP Server should now be connected and operational with your provided API token.
