Integrates with Socket's dependency security API to analyze npm and PyPI packages, returning detailed security and quality metrics for vulnerability assessment and dependency management.
  1. Go to the Socket Dashboard

  2. Sign In or Create a Socket Account

    • Log in with your Socket credentials, or sign up if you don’t have an account.
  3. Create a New API Token

    • Locate the section to create a new API token.
    • Click "Create Token" or an equivalent button.
  4. Set the Required Permission Scope

    • When prompted, assign the packages:list permission to the token (this is the only required scope for MCP server usage).
  5. Copy Your API Key

    • Once the token is generated, copy the value. This will be shown only once for security reasons.
  6. Add the API Key in the FastMCP Connection Interface

    • Go to the FastMCP server integration screen and click the “Install Now” button for the Socket MCP integration.
    • When prompted for ENV values, fill in the key as follows:
      • Key: SOCKET_API_KEY
      • Value: (Paste the API key you copied from the Socket dashboard)
  7. Save and Complete Installation

    • Save your integration settings. Your MCP server is now ready to use with the Socket API key.
