Log in to your Google Cloud Console
- Go to https://console.cloud.google.com/.
- Sign in with your Google account.
Create or Select a Project
- At the top left, click the project drop-down and either select an existing project or click “New Project” to create a new one for your Travel Planner integration.
Enable Google Maps APIs
- In the navigation menu (☰), go to “APIs & Services” > “Library”.
- Enable the following APIs for your project:
- Places API
- Directions API
- Geocoding API
- Time Zone API
- For each API listed above, search for it, click on it, and then click the “Enable” button.
Create an API Key
- In the navigation menu (☰), go to “APIs & Services” > “Credentials”.
- Click “+ Create Credentials” and select “API key”.
- A new API key will appear. Copy this key—you will use it in the next step.
Restrict Your API Key (Recommended)
- Next to your new API key, click the “Edit” icon.
- Under “API restrictions”, select only the APIs enabled in step 3 (Places API, Directions API, Geocoding API, Time Zone API).
- You may also set “Application restrictions” for better security.
Fill in the FastMCP Connection Interface
- When adding the Travel Planner server via your “Install Now” button, a FastMCP connection interface will appear.
- Paste your copied API key into the input field labeled
GOOGLE_MAPS_API_KEY.
Complete Setup
- Save or confirm the configuration in the FastMCP interface.
Your Travel Planner MCP server will now have access to the required Google Maps services!
