Log in to Plane.so (Cloud)
- Go to https://app.plane.so/ and log in with your Plane account.
Generate a Plane API Key
- Click on your user profile/avatar in the top-right corner.
- Select Personal Settings from the dropdown menu.
- Look for a section labeled API Keys.
- Click on Generate New API Key (or similar).
- Copy the generated API key. Note: This key will only be shown once and is for your user, not the entire workspace.
Find Your Workspace Slug
- While logged in, navigate to your workspace.
- Your browser address bar will show a URL like
https://app.plane.so/<workspace-slug>/. - The text after
https://app.plane.so/is your workspace slug (e.g., forhttps://app.plane.so/acme-corp/, the workspace slug isacme-corp).
Fill in the FastMCP Connection Interface
- In the FastMCP interface, click the Install Now button for Plane.
- When prompted, enter your values:
- PLANE_API_KEY: Paste the API key you got from step 2.
- PLANE_WORKSPACE_SLUG: Enter your workspace slug from step 3.
Save and Connect
- Complete the connection setup as prompted.
- Your MCP server will now be able to interact with your Plane workspace using the credentials you provided.
Security Tip: Never share your API key publicly or commit it to source control. If you suspect your API key has been exposed, revoke it and generate a new one from your Plane personal settings.
