Obtain your Discourse API Key
- Log in to your Discourse forum as an administrator.
- Click on your profile avatar at the top right, then go to “Admin” (gear icon).
- In the left sidebar, go to “API” under the “Users” section.
- Click the “New API Key” button.
- Choose the user and set the permissions as needed (e.g., global or per-user key).
- Click “Save” and copy the generated API key.
Find your Discourse API Username
- Your username is the account under which the API key was created.
- You can check your username in the profile section after logging in or in the “Users” list under the admin panel.
Locate the Discourse API URL
- This is the base URL of your Discourse forum (e.g.,
https://forum.example.com).

Fill these values in the FastMCP connection interface
- Click the "Install Now" button for Discourse MCP Server.
- In the FastMCP connection interface, enter the following:

Complete the Installation
- Confirm and save to finalize the connection with your Discourse MCP Server.
