Enables comprehensive web research by leveraging Tavily's Search and Crawl APIs to aggregate information from multiple sources, extract detailed content, and structure data specifically for generating technical documentation and research reports.
  1. Register for a Tavily Account

    • Go to the Tavily website: https://www.tavily.com/ (or search for Tavily API if the link changes).
    • Sign up for a free or paid plan, depending on your needs.
  2. Obtain Your Tavily API Key

    • After logging into your Tavily dashboard, navigate to the “API Keys” or “Developers” section (the exact name may vary).
    • Click on “Create API Key” or “Generate New Key.”
    • Copy your new API key. It should look like: tvly-xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
  3. Add the API Key to FastMCP

    • Click the “Install Now” button for Deep Research MCP in your FastMCP connection interface.
    • When prompted, fill in the following environment variable:
      • TAVILY_API_KEY: Paste in your Tavily API Key (e.g., tvly-xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx)
  4. (Optional) Add any additional ENV values if needed:

    • DOCUMENTATION_PROMPT – (Optional) Custom documentation instructions.
    • RESEARCH_OUTPUT_PATH – (Optional) Path for saving discovered documents/images.
    • Other optional settings (timeouts, search/crawl configs, etc.) can also be set if needed, as described in the README.
  5. Complete Installation

    • Click “Save” or “Continue” in FastMCP to finish the integration.
    • Your Deep Research MCP connector is now ready to use with the configured API key and any custom settings.
