Manage, organize, and reuse prompt templates with variable substitution and multi-message conversation structures.
  1. Determine your prompts storage directory
    Decide where you want your prompt templates to be stored on your filesystem. This can be any directory where you have read and write permissions, for example: /Users/yourname/promptopia-prompts.

  2. Copy the directory path
    Copy the full path to this chosen prompts directory. You will need this for the configuration step.

  3. Add the PROMPTS_DIR Environment Variable
    In the FastMCP connection interface (accessible via the "Install Now" button), locate the field for entering environment variables.

  4. Enter the PROMPTS_DIR value

    • Set the key to PROMPTS_DIR
    • Set the value to the path of your chosen prompts directory (from step 2).

    Example:

    PROMPTS_DIR=/Users/yourname/promptopia-prompts

  5. Save the configuration
    Confirm and save your changes in the FastMCP interface.

Your Promptopia MCP server will now use the specified directory to store and manage prompt templates. No API keys or tokens are required for setup.
