Go to OpenAI’s Platform
- Visit https://platform.openai.com/.
- Sign in with your OpenAI account, or create a new account if you don’t have one.
Navigate to the API Keys Section
- After logging in, click on your profile icon in the top-right corner.
- Select “View API Keys” from the dropdown menu.
Generate a New API Key
- Click the “Create new secret key” button.
- Give your key a name for reference (optional).
- Copy the newly created API key (it will start with
sk-...). You will not be able to see it again after leaving this screen.
Fill in the FastMCP Connection Interface
- In the FastMCP connection interface, find the field for
OPENAI_API_KEY. - Paste the API key you copied into this field.

Click the "Install Now" Button
- Complete the setup by clicking the "Install Now" button in your FastMCP interface.
Important: Keep your API key secure and do not share it publicly. If you believe your key has been compromised, you can revoke it and generate a new one via the OpenAI platform.
