- Visit https://openrouter.ai/keys.
Sign in or sign up for an OpenRouter account
- Log in using your existing credentials or create a new account if you don’t have one.
Obtain your OpenRouter API key
- After signing in, you will be taken to the API keys management page.
- Click “Create API Key” or copy an existing active key.
- Your API key will be shown only once during creation—copy it securely.
Fill in the FastMCP connection interface
- In the FastMCP connection interface, click the “Install Now” button for the OpenRouter server.
- When prompted for environment variables, enter the
OPENROUTER_API_KEYyou obtained in step 3. - (Optional) You can also specify a default model ID in the
DEFAULT_MODELfield (e.g.,qwen/qwen2.5-vl-32b-instruct:free) if required.
Save and complete the connection
- Confirm and save your configuration in the FastMCP interface.
- Your OpenRouter MCP server is now ready to use.
