Provides seamless access to OpenRouter's diverse AI models, enabling multimodal interactions across vision and language models with intelligent model selection, caching, and robust error handling.
  1. Go to OpenRouter website

  2. Sign in or sign up for an OpenRouter account

    • Log in using your existing credentials or create a new account if you don’t have one.
  3. Obtain your OpenRouter API key

    • After signing in, you will be taken to the API keys management page.
    • Click “Create API Key” or copy an existing active key.
    • Your API key will be shown only once during creation—copy it securely.
  4. Fill in the FastMCP connection interface

    • In the FastMCP connection interface, click the “Install Now” button for the OpenRouter server.
    • When prompted for environment variables, enter the OPENROUTER_API_KEY you obtained in step 3.
    • (Optional) You can also specify a default model ID in the DEFAULT_MODEL field (e.g., qwen/qwen2.5-vl-32b-instruct:free) if required.
  5. Save and complete the connection

    • Confirm and save your configuration in the FastMCP interface.
    • Your OpenRouter MCP server is now ready to use.
