1. Open your n8n instance in a browser.

   • Log in to your n8n dashboard as an administrator.

2. Navigate to API Key settings.

   • Go to Settings > API > API Keys.

3. Create a new API key.

   • Click "Create new API key" (or equivalent button).
   • Assign the necessary permissions.
   • Save the key and copy it immediately (it will only be shown once).

4. (Optional, if you use webhooks) Set up webhook authentication.

   • Go to your webhook-triggered workflow in n8n.
   • Enable Basic Authentication for your webhook node.
   • Note the username and password you set.

5. Prepare the following values for FastMCP:

   • N8N_API_URL: The full URL of your n8n API, including /api/v1 (e.g., http://localhost:5678/api/v1).
   • N8N_API_KEY: The API key you just generated.
   • (Optional) N8N_WEBHOOK_USERNAME: Username for webhook authentication (if using webhooks).
   • (Optional) N8N_WEBHOOK_PASSWORD: Password for webhook authentication (if using webhooks).

6. Click "Install Now" in FastMCP.

   • When prompted, fill in the values above in the connection interface.

7. Save and finish setup.

   • Confirm the details and save your configuration in FastMCP.

You are now ready to connect and use the n8n MCP server!
