Identify Your Windows Username
- Find your Windows username by opening the command prompt on Windows and typing
whoami, or by checking your user folder underC:\Users\.

Locate Your Screenshot Directory
- By default, Windows saves screenshots in
C:\Users\<YourWindowsUsername>\Pictures\Screenshots. - If you use OneDrive or another location, confirm where your screenshots are saved.

Prepare Environment Variables
- You will need:
WINDOWS_USERNAME: Your Windows username.MCP_SCREENSHOT_DIRS: The full WSL path to your screenshots folder, e.g.,/mnt/c/Users/YourWindowsUsername/Pictures/Screenshots.- For multiple directories, separate them with semicolons, e.g.,
/mnt/c/Users/YourWindowsUsername/Pictures/Screenshots;/mnt/c/Users/YourWindowsUsername/OneDrive/Pictures/Screenshots.
- You will need:
Fill in the FastMCP Connection
- In the FastMCP connection interface, click the "Install Now" button for the Windows Screenshots integration.
- Enter the following in the fields provided:
WINDOWS_USERNAME: (type your Windows username)MCP_SCREENSHOT_DIRS: (type the WSL path to your screenshot directory)
Save and Finish
- Confirm and save the configuration.
- Restart Claude Code to ensure the new settings take effect.
You can now use Claude to access and view your Windows screenshots directly!
