Provides AI assistants with direct query access to the AACT (Aggregate Analysis of ClinicalTrials.gov) database, allowing structured retrieval and analysis of clinical trial data.
  1. Open the FastMCP connection interface

    • Click the "Install Now" button to open the FastMCP connection / environment variables form.
  2. Create a free AACT account

  3. Identify the credentials to use for the ENV values

    • DB_USER = the AACT username (usually the email or username you used to sign up).
    • DB_PASSWORD = the password you set for that AACT account.
    • (If AACT provides a separate database/API credential in your account settings, use that value as DB_USER/DB_PASSWORD instead.)
  4. Enter the ENV values in the FastMCP form

    • In the FastMCP connection interface opened by "Install Now," add or edit the environment variables:
      • Key: DB_USER → Value: (your AACT username/email)
      • Key: DB_PASSWORD → Value: (your AACT password)
    • Make sure there are no leading/trailing spaces and that the entries match your AACT account exactly.
  5. Save and start the MCP connection

    • Save the FastMCP configuration and start or enable the AACT MCP server integration.
  6. Verify the connection

    • Use the MCP tools (for example, run list_tables or a simple read_query like SELECT nct_id, brief_title FROM ctgov.studies LIMIT 5) to confirm the server can authenticate and return data.
  7. Security best practices

    • Keep DB_USER and DB_PASSWORD secret. Do not share them in public repositories or screenshots.
    • If you suspect compromise, reset the password in your AACT account and update the FastMCP ENV values.
