Log in to your OpenAI account
- Go to OpenAI platform.
- If you don’t have an account, create one and complete any required verification steps.
Navigate to API Keys
- In your OpenAI dashboard, click your profile icon in the top right.
- Select "API Keys" from the dropdown menu.
Create a New API Key
- Click the "Create new secret key" button.
- Give the key a name for easy identification (e.g., "Puppeteer Vision MCP").
- Save/generate the key.
Copy Your API Key
- Important: The key will only be shown once. Copy it immediately and keep it secure.
Add the Key to FastMCP Connection
- Go to the FastMCP connection interface.
- Locate the "Install Now" button for adding ENVs.
- When prompted, enter the following value:
OPENAI_API_KEY:[paste your key here]
(Optional) Configure Advanced Settings
- If you want to specify additional options (like
VISION_MODEL,API_BASE_URL, or server mode configuration), add those ENV values as needed using the same interface.

Save and Apply the Configuration
- Confirm and save your environment variable settings in FastMCP. The service will now use your OpenAI API key for secure and authenticated access.
