The Guardian

1. Open the Guardian Open Platform registration page
   Visit https://open-platform.theguardian.com/access/.

2. Register for an API key

   • If you do not already have an account, sign up with your email and create a password.
   • If you already have an account, log in.

3. Complete the registration form
   Fill out the required information, including your intended usage (note: non-commercial use by default). Agree to the terms and conditions.

4. Submit and retrieve your API key
   After completing registration, your API key will be generated and displayed on your dashboard or sent to your registered email.

5. Copy your API key
   The key is a string of letters and numbers. Carefully copy it.

6. Open the FastMCP connection interface
   Navigate to the interface for adding ENV values and click the "Install Now" button if prompted.

7. Paste the API key
   In the FastMCP connection interface, find the field labeled GUARDIAN_API_KEY and paste your copied Guardian API key there.

8. Save your changes
   Confirm and save to ensure the key is correctly added for MCP server communication.

You have now configured the Guardian MCP server to authenticate with The Guardian API using your personal API key.
