Generate text using OpenAI's language models.
Log in to your OpenAI account
Go to https://platform.openai.com/api-keys and sign in with your OpenAI credentials.Create a new API key
- Click the “Create new secret key” button.
- Give it a name if prompted (for your reference).
- Click “Create secret key”.
Copy your new API key
- The key will be displayed only once. Click to copy the key and keep it secure.
Open FastMCP and install the MCP OpenAI server
- Click the “Install Now” button for the OpenAI integration.
Enter your OpenAI API key
- In the FastMCP connection interface, find the input for
OPENAI_API_KEY. - Paste your API key into this field.
- In the FastMCP connection interface, find the input for
Save or confirm the configuration
- Ensure you press “Save” or confirm the changes in the FastMCP connection interface.
Your OpenAI API key is now configured and you can start using OpenAI’s models with Claude.
