Log in to your MongoDB Atlas account
- Go to the MongoDB Atlas login page and sign in with your credentials.
Navigate to Access Manager
- On the left-hand sidebar, go to Access Manager.
Go to the API Keys section
- In the Access Manager, select the API Keys tab.
Create a new API key
- Click the “Create API Key” button.
- Assign a name and select the appropriate project and permissions (e.g., Project Owner or custom roles depending on your needs).
Save the Public and Private Keys
- After the API key is generated, copy both the Public Key and Private Key.
Note: The Private Key will only be shown once—save it immediately!

Add Your API Keys to FastMCP
- In the FastMCP connection interface, click the "Install Now" button for the MongoDB Atlas MCP server.
- When prompted, fill in the
ATLAS_PUBLIC_KEYfield with your Public Key, and theATLAS_PRIVATE_KEYfield with your Private Key.
Finish and Save
- Complete the installation process and save the configuration. Your keys are now set up for use with the MongoDB Atlas MCP server.
